HOLLAND LOP

The Holland Lop
The Holland Lop started to develope in 1949 by Mr.DeCock. He orriginally hoped it would be a minature French Lop.He Crossed French Lops and Dwarfs and yeilded no sucess.In 1952 he breed a doe from a Dwarf/French cross to an English Lop buck. Then he took a doe from that mating bred to a doe from the second or the same mating started a succession of matings within this family. With later addition Dwarf crosses he finally reached his goal. It was accepted by the Netherland's Governing Rabbit Council in the January of 1964. The First Holland Lops appeared in the United States in 1976. The first presentation to the ARBA stardards Committee wasn't until 1980 where they were accepted into the ARBA standards.

The Holland should be well musceled, short and compact in appearance. The Rabbit should be well balanced in length width and depth. Hollands should have a broad well filled out chest and shoulders as well as the hindquarters. The hollands head should be massive in appearance and be set very close to the shoulders showing no neck. With the depth equal at the top of the shoulder as over the hindquarter.Hollands should have short legs that are nice and heavy boned for the size of the rabbit.

Sr weight: Ideal is to be 3lbs not over 4lbs either sex.

Jr weight: Not to be over 21/2 lbs
